Percival Ellicott Fansler introduced the world's first scheduled commercial airline service with the St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line, to create a service connecting the two cities, which were a day's travel apart in 1913. Jannus piloted the airline's Benoist Type XIV on its maiden flight between St. Petersburg and Tampa, amid much fanfare.
